On February 18th, there was a BART problem that was a top story on every TV news cnhneal in the SF Bay Area. Guess who was on the train that broke down?Google Navigation for public transit refused to allow me to exclude BART from my searches for routes home to SF from West Oakland station. Where there is no bathroom, no gluten-free food for miles (I have celiac disease) and the rain was pouring down like we were maybe going to need to build an ark. I had to get on the first AC transit bus and ask the driver, and I basically had to take 2 buses to get to a bus that would take me home.I wouldn’t be so annoyed about this, but transit.511.org does allow you to exclude a transit system from your searches; unfortunately, it doesn’t work particularly well on Android phones.I’d really, really, really appreciate this option being added to public transit navigation. It’s almost funny now, watching every iPhone and Droid user in the entire BART station collectively freak as Google Navigation tells us all that we just need to get on BART and we’ll be home in 20 minutes! I know, Blake. It is sad. I’m fortunate beuscae I live in an area where the bank, grocery store, and post office are all within a mile from my house so I can walk to get things done when the weather is not too bad I love doing that!
